Taxes?

Four more things that I love about this city so far:

  • My buspass was $61 dollars for the month.
  • The public outdoor swimming pool is free on weekdays.
  • The neighbourhood gym is less than $2 per drop in fee when bought in quantities of 20, and is open 24 hours a day during the week
  • Tuition for McGill is about 1500.00CAD a year

I don't think my taxes are going towards the gym, but so far these are all things I like seeing my taxes go towards. I saw an article on Montreal (Sorry, no accents, Breezy's X doesn't seem to like me today), that joked that Montrealers measure their potholes in metres. But you know, if we get public services, libraries within blocks of our houses, an alcohol store for almost every 5 blocks, childcare, and cheap schooling, then I think we're doing alright. The people in this city can't drive anyway *g*.

It's funny to think about the hassle to get the drivers license here. I suspect that all the fuss over who you are is a trade off for what you know.
