It turns out that the Bayou Brasil, the only place in Montreal to buy caipirihnas is two blocks from my house. The drinks are what you'd expect, (terribly good), as is the food (terribly non vegan). We tried ordering Polenta to celebrate the good time we had at Debconf 4 in Brasil, and the cook just brightened. He said that he would happily do it for us, we just need to give him 2 days notice. The only downside is that it's a restaurant, not a bar, so you have to order food in order to eat. It turns out their aubergine appetizer is vegan, so Angie and I split it.

We then treked over to Papineau and Mont Royale, where there's a brand new pizza place. Prices range from a dollar to two dollars a slice, and he's willing to make fresh vegan slices at that price. They're open until 4am, so I can see it becoming a nice place for a midnight snack.

Have I mentioned that I love this city?

Oh on a related note (related because you musn't drink and drive, kids. This is a public service announcement.) My license came in the mail yesterday. I'm surprised at how quick it was. The license is not as pretty as BC, but nicer than Ontario. It also has a strange textture. It's think like an Ubuntu business card, but with a scratchy surface like you can buy for a palm pilot.
