So we're going to be parents soon...
Feb. 4th, 2007 09:42 amA few things happen to remind us that we'll be parents soon...
* Angie just suggested that perhaps we could take the gin and vodka that we haven't been drinking out of the freezer to make space.
* We put together a crib yesterday. Anything else could've been random Ikea furniture. But y'know, there's just no other use for a crib. (Or a child sized one, anyway...)
* Angie turning around in what usually would've been plenty of space, and sending a glass flying with the end of her belly.
* The steady stream of (welcome) conflicting advice from people who are already parents.
There's less than 3 weeks to go to the official due date, less than 5 to the maximum date permitted (In Québec, they induce if we get 2 weeks past the due date). Midwife visits are now weekly. Birth bags are packed. We just need to finish assembling the phone and email lists and ...
... wait. =)
Probably time for more Angie pictures, though. I'll try to take some later.

Date: 2007-02-04 04:53 pm (UTC)It's probably pointless trying to turn yourselves into superparents at this late stage - if child psychologists are to be believed, you learnt all the vital stuff before you were 5 years old from watching your own parents :) Every parent is unique: every child is uniquely theirs. The other word I would give you is - RELAX. Bringing up children is hard - but 6+ billion of us were once children so its readily do-able on native wit and understanding. A healthy dose of love care and consideration for each other also helps, of course.
Take care - have all my very best wishes. Andy (amacater@debian.org)
