One of the things through this move has been that we've been trying to make sure that whatever place we live in is close enough to "stuff" that Angie doesn't go nuts. The bitch about corporate housing is that there's no point in trying to meet your neighbours - everyone is transient. While I never came home to the walls smeared with fæces but I think she was contemplating it.

So, we're in new corporate housing now in Mountain View. This time we're a block off of Castro and El Camino Real, several neighbours have said hi, there's other families around and a starbucks around the corner. I'm expecting she'll be much happier here.

And I found a store that sells lychee-fruit cups. I haven't had those since I left Vancouver! The salt-water taffy store's products aren't vegan, sadly.

Park Place, huh?

We actually lived in Park Place around the turn of the century before we bought our house (in downtown Mountain View). Although you said in an earlier entry that the best part of Mountain View is that you can leave, I think you'll find that downtown is actually a pretty great place to live, especially if you have young kids. Park Place is next door to eagle park and the public library, both great places to take a kid, and you can walk to pretty much everything (including the Sunday farmer's market -- definitely check it out). And if you absolutely have to get out of town, you're very close to the 22/522 bus stop, which can get you anywhere on El Camino probably faster than driving.
