I love the fact that the WTO could mean the "World Toilet Organisation". Seems like a decent thing to support.

Well that's the whole point clearly. The About Us page is pretty funny.

OMG, apparently this site is for real. They've got some really parody-like parts to their site. "Toilets deserve better social status. WTO has been striving to elevate the status of toilets to make them status symbols and objects of desire. WTO speaks on behalf of toilets "WE DESERVE BETTER SOCIAL STATUS"."

I get the point if I'm taking it seriously, but it's very parody-like.

Ah yeah, I'm fairly certain it's for real. I found the site in an article in ode magazine, which seems unlikely to have joke articles.

But the site is just amazing. Given then importance of dealing with sanitation and human waste and how that all likes to run head first into social taboos, I think they've picked a good way to try and work around them while getting their message across.

I found the site shockingly short on details of what they actually *do* or the effects of their projects/actions. My thought was that while sanitation is extremely important for health, the whole system, not just the "toilet" is what's key.
