I subscribe to the iRobot mailing list for new products, discounts, etc.  Today I got an email talking about great deals for mother's day.  In case of you out there think this is a good idea, let's state this clearly:

This is not a good idea.

Giving someone a gift that reminds them of housework is a fast path to tears.  Even if they're a geek.  Just say no.

The other day a friend told me about an all edges brownie pan on thinkgeek (http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsforher/a1aa/). Cool, and then I looked at the breadcrumb trail:

Interests > Gifts For Her > All Edges Brownie Pan

Hoo boy. If you buy a brownie pan as a gift for a woman who doesn't have a specific novelty interest in baking it had better come filled with brownies! (And the same goes for the Digital Thermometer Pan (http://www.thinkgeek.com/interests/giftsforher/a7a9/), make sure it comes with breakfast in bed made with said pan!).

...or maybe this is some grand scheme to make male geeks buy kitchen gifts for their girlfriends, thus ending their relationship and having them drown their sorrows in buying more thinkgeek gadgets.
